The sky, the reading, the imagination.
Three different kinds of work. Keeping them distinct makes each more useful.
First, calculate the sky.
The birth location and recorded local time resolve to one UTC instant. Historical clock changes are checked server-side; an ambiguous repeated hour needs clarification. Astronomy Engine calculates planetary positions. It supplies calculations, not astrological meanings, and the language model never computes your birth chart.
The natal method uses tropical, geocentric positions, whole-sign houses, and traditional sign rulers. The Midheaven is calculated separately from the tenth whole-sign house. Day or night follows the Sun above or below the geometric horizon. The lunar node is the mean node.
Natal detection orbs are 8° for conjunctions and oppositions, 7° for squares and trines, and 5° for sextiles. Thresholds use full precision. A 128-chart numerical cross-check against Swiss Ephemeris across 1924–2030 found all ten planets within 0.006° and no remaining retrograde-direction disagreements in that sample. This checks computation, not the truth of astrology.
Then, read the relationships.
The writer receives every classical placement, its house and sign ruler, supplied aspects, sect, and lunar phase before choosing three threads. The rising sign and ruler, Sun, and Moon are starting points for synthesis, not a replacement for the rest of the chart. No rarity ranking or quotation-coverage gate selects the subjects.
A small, reviewed vocabulary supplies planetary faculties, house topics, and relationship principles. These are modern teaching glosses on Western sources, not a validated personality database. A sign describes manner; a house locates a topic. Rulership, essential dignity, and sect remain distinct conditions.
The current reader is OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra. It returns evidence identifiers alongside the prose. Validation checks reference existence, structure, length, some planetary claims, and reciprocal rulership. These checks make errors easier to catch; they cannot certify every interpretive leap. Treat the reading as a proposal you can question.
The earlier 510-entry dictionary included Alan Leo, William Lilly, modern paraphrases, and historical material requiring further transcription review. That dictionary does not supply the new reader’s personality meanings or select its three themes. Earlier saved readings remain as they were made.

Give the artist room.
The reader separately translates one relationship into an imaginative brief: what interacts, what changes, its pace, and what persists. The image artist receives that brief and visual direction, not the chart, sign names, birth inputs, element percentages, rarity scores, or a prescribed species. Behavior can become anatomy without turning Fire into flame or Water into a water cannon.
The current image model is GPT Image 2. A familiar is optional, fictional, and one possible interpretation—not your true species. If image generation fails, the chart and copyable artist brief remain available. Visual diversity is still an active design problem; the pipeline does not guarantee that every artwork is unique.
A daily edition, and a personal layer.
September 2026 contains thirty individually authored, AI-assisted reflections. They use the same calculated sky, with editorial dates fixed to UTC. Local-time display changes an event’s displayed time, not which edition contains it. New and full Moons, ingresses, stations, and exact major aspects anchor the month; quiet dates do not receive invented events.
The almanac includes modern outer-planet interpretations, labeled as such; the natal core centers the traditional seven. Weekday planets are a historical correspondence, separate from calculated aspects. The live sky’s unequal planetary hours start the planetary day at sunrise, not midnight.
If you choose to save your chart’s seven positions in this browser, the daily page calculates the four closest major transit-to-natal aspects within 2°, or 1° for the transiting Moon, at 12:00 UTC. This is a reference-time angular comparison, not a forecast or a complete transit reading.
Your record belongs to you.
New chart links are unlisted, not secret: anyone with the URL can view the reading and artwork. Birth inputs are stored privately on the server to create the chart, but are not rendered on its public page. The saved-device chart holds precise positions locally, without a birth date or place. Local browser storage is not encrypted.
The journal stays in this browser and is not uploaded or analyzed by AI. Later observations append to the original record. Export backups; clearing browser storage removes local entries. The optional email field is not required for a chart. Weekly letters are available on the web and through RSS; automated email delivery is not currently enabled.
Earlier element scores and frequency estimates
The 17-point element balance is a product convention, not an ancient formula. Its weights are documented on the elements page. It remains a learning aid on earlier cards, not an instruction to the artist.
The earlier rarity table used 60,000 simulated charts, plus 40,000 for cohort checks. Frequencies describe individual configurations in a sampling model, not how rare a person is. They no longer determine the new reading’s subjects or appear as a badge on its page.
